Digtial painting practice

Been practicing my digital painting recently. This is an account of my progress from the upper left picture to the large one on the right. It's progress but I feel there's still plenty of room for improvement.

May I have this dance?

Gesture drawing is probably one of the MOST important things for a serious artist to do to better their skills. I like focusing ion ballet dancers because of the posing achieved in the dance. They're so fluid and beautiful!

LATE!

It happens to the best of us....those moments of terror and rush that happen when one is late! In this one's case, it seems to be a case of being late to school.

Professor

Today from my sketchbook, I have an educator of alien descent. Wonder what he would teach?

When all else fails....

KICK IT! Rei Zenna is a grease monkey mechanic trying to fix a broken air conditioning unit out in the wasteland. Looks like it's going poorly, lol!

I'm a new concept artist for the Pitfall Paradise team and this is my first piece.

Wanderer

I call this one "Wanderer" as he's a freelance warrior/fighter of sorts looking for the next job. Can easily relate to this guy as I'm a freelance artist currently. I'm always looking for the next job too.

Elven advisor

Another sketch fresh from the sketchbook :) I'm currently thinking she's an Elven advisor. What is she advising about? Still figuring that out.

Cat and Kat

Fresh from the sketchbook; it's Catherine and Katrina ( Cat and Kat). I was just following wherever my pencil went and this piece is one of the results. Only details I know is that they're sisters. Cat, the elder sister on the left, may or may have amputated a leg and loves to tinker/invent with machinery and chemistry. Her mechanical aptitude is what puts food on the table. Kat on the right is the younger sister and she always wears an over-shirt their father used to wear and she's in charge of the home from cooking to cleaning to organization. The father is...absent? Away on assignment? Something that takes him away on many travels.

What is your purpose in life?

Figure out your purpose in life using a very simple approach

"What's your purpose in life?" Such a big question. Some people search for years before finding a piece of the answer and some never truly figure it out. I THINK I know what my purpose is since I started playing video games around age 5 or so. This short Ted Talk video gave me pause to think about my purpose from a new angle. Perhaps, it will do the same for others. Click on the link above to see!

What is 'outside'?

R and the rest of her kind are extremely sheltered as they were living during a very chaotic phase of Earth. Things like flowers and butterflies are novel concepts.

A wish to speak with someone

R is a lonely sort. She says very little and gets very little chance to engage with other humans. Children her age and younger are kept indoors for their studies while 6 years and older leave their dwellings for instruction.

Hood up!

Yeah, that's a hood that's hanging around R's neck and shoulders. Curious since it doesn't rain or storm in any way where she resides.

Back to my sketchbook!

After finishing an animation gig for UniquePublications for the short "Star Spangled Chicken", I'm back to drawing in my sketchbook. Animation is a labor of love to be sure. It's a process of patience, precision and tenacity. As fun as animation is, I am happy to return to my sketch world and keep exploring characters/stories I'm developing while working on other gigs. Here, we pick up "Gaia's Blessing" development again by exploring more of "R".

"Star Spangled Chicken"

Woo! Just finished another gig for UniquePublications, LLC called "Star Spangled Chicken". My role on this gig was to photo edit a cute little chick to erase her beak and draw in a new one. With the new beak, I timed it/animated it to the voice over of the fabulous Drew Bates, director and producer of UniquePublications.

Please watch, like, subscribe and share this fun video with friends and family:
